Rail
CP Update for week of June 1:
CP expects operating conditions to remain favorable across the network.
CP Asset forecast this week:
CP continues to see a balanced demand across all fleets. Car velocity is recovering after last week’s line outage in Northern Ontario.

Ocean Freight
Two of the major container shipping alliances, 2M and THE, have announced 75 blanked sailings in the third quarter of 2020.  The FreightWaves report can be found at the first red bar below.

Air Cargo
Freight rates from major Asian points to North America continue to decline as demand slows, but remain above 2019 rates.  The full report can be found at

Supply Chain Commentaries
AAR Canadian Rail Traffic Data - Week 22  
North American rail volume for the first 22 weeks of 2020 was 13,698,214 carloads and intermodal units, down 11.6% compared with 2019.

Canadian railroads reported 68,657 carloads for the week ending May 30, down 17.8%, and 63,195 intermodal units, down 5.2% compared with the same week in 2019.

For the first 22 weeks of 2020, Canadian railroads reported cumulative rail traffic volume of 3,059,717 carloads, containers and trailers, down 7.3%.  The detailed statistics for week 22 can be found at the second red bar below.  In  addition, the graph showing the trends for 2020 compared to 2019 and 2018 highlight the 2020 downturn and can be found at the third red bar below.
